The UCT CTU implements scientific research agendas for the following Networks
The HIV Vaccine Trials Network, HVTN the world’s largest publicly funded network, which facilitates the development of vaccines to prevent HIV/AIDS.
The HIV Prevention Trials Network,whose objective is to develop and test the safety and efficacy of interventions designed to prevent the acquisition and transmission of HIV and Aids Clinical Trials Group.
The Microbicide Trials Network, MTN,whose focus is on preventing the sexual transmission of HIV.
The ACTG Network which aims to cure HIV infection and reduce the burden of disease due to HIV infection and its complications, including tuberculosis and viral hepatitis.
The IMPAACT Network which aims to significantly decrease incident HIV and HIV-associated infections and to decrease mortality and morbidity due to HIV and HIV-associated infections and co-morbidities among infants, children, adolescents and pregnant/postpartum women.
